I just found this on a Friendster Bulletin posted by a friend, and I am seriously appalled. I'm just gonna paste what the bulletin said:
Disappointed!!!
We felt so disappointed and unsatisfied with one of the restaurants at Gadong. The story began like this; we booked the sungkai’s buffet for 14 persons ($9 / person),but there were only 10 of us that could attend the buffet. The tables that was accommodating the remaining four people were given off to other customers.
After we had our sungkai, we asked for the bill from the waiter but then we were so shocked to see that the total amount for our buffet was $126 when in fact we were actually supposed to pay only $90.
One of us went to the waiter asking for the explanation. The waiter said that we booked for 14 persons sowe had to pay the $126 but it wasn’t fair. The waiter again said that it was their policy to do such thing and it is their system to be like that!! Come on… isn’t that called RIBA?? Who knows Brunei had such a restaurant!! We just had to pay for what we had eaten, no more and no less!! It was also not fair that we had to pay for other customers.
The only reason why those customers who took our table did not stay and eat was because there was not enough food. Is that justice on our part? We gave up our table to other customers and yet we had to pay for the seatings because the restaurant did not have enough food for them. We just cannot find the logic in this whole situation.
The very disappointing thing was the owners of that restaurant. We already tried talking to them in a nice, POLITE and sensible manner “Minta maafkami ah….” and that was replied with; “Apa lagi masalah kamu ani…??? Besedakah bah bulan puasa ani, tu pun kamu inda mau bayar untuk 14 orang”.
We did not mind paying for the place IF we did not give the tables up but we did. They asked us why we wanted to pick a fight during this holy month but we weren’t the ones who raised our voices and started throwing tantrums first.
Then the other owner came to us and said to one of us who actually gave a complaint on our behalf, saying “Kanyang dah parut atu..ahh?? Haram tu yang kamu makan ahh.. kuar kamu dari sini!! Haram kamu masuk kadaiku lagi!!” That was it?? Is that how our Bruneian people are?? There was no sense of politeness at all. They did not even let us explain! They just came and started yelling at us! Mana budi bahasa atu..??
All that we wanted is the ‘why?’ but they threw us out of the place as if we were ANIMALS!! Moreover, the male owner of the restaurant is very sexist. He did not even bother about what our female friends were saying. His exact words were “Kamu perempuan nda tau papa..” How are we supposed to talk to these sorts of people? This is the fasting month and we just wanted to come to some sort of agreement and yet we were treated this way.
We assure you that your business would not be going far IF you do such thing to your own customers. Without customers, your business will go down. Don’t you think that they will spread these things about your attitude being that restaurant’s owner?? Think twice!! We would like to thank the securities that were there to help us get our point across to those hard-headed owners!
Banyak lagi restoran di Brunei ani yang nyaman-nyaman dan membayar untuk orang yang hadir saja, sebab makanannya untuk semua orang dan lebih mencukupi. Sekali kami kena haramkan masuk, seratus kali lagi kami haram kan datang ke restoran atu. Orang Brunei terkenal dengan budi bahasa dan sopan santunnya tapi kenapa orang Brunei yang punya restoran ani nada langsungkan besopan bahas?
SHOCKING!
Muaz Rashid - Absolutely speechless.. but I wanna put this across.. don't say "we can" when you certaintly "can't"..
Edit - - the customers did not pay because they were thrown out of the said restaurant before they even had the chance to complete the payment.

Hmm. knw wht? my friends pun kena last year, n durang sungkai pun arah this restaurant in GDG. PLUs, one of the waitresses said the same thing.. "bulan puasa pun inda mau sedakah?" i mean hello.. bukan jua sdakh tu if bayar labih. klu sdkah sdakah lah.. ani labih durang ah.
i wnder if its the same restaurant.. mcm sama berabis kn the cereta. cud the name of the restaurant strts with the letter "W"?
oh just say the restaurant's name!!! aku sabut ah! aku sabut ah! aku sambung lah. since it starts with the letter W, aku tambah E to it. so it's WE___! nyahah!

cubatah warning customer atu awal awal. jadi Faham durang, which kalau inda cukup 14, masih kena charge. Kalau bulan puasa ani Sabar saja tah ah... entah banyak hutang kali :)
oh hi muaz. i read maurinas post and the whole story here. Is this the wecan restaurant? Cause i think I was there when one of your friends told the waiter that there were only 10 of you. and coincidently, we were the one who left the place cos they didnt have enough food for us. I called the restaurant around 6 and asked if they still have table for us, and they said yes. So we came there only to find that almost all the food was gone. I know we came late, but then durang inda me refill. We wanted to have ala carte actually tapinya inda ya menyuruh cos they only masak for buffet and cakapnya durang inda dapat refill the prawns and squids which is stupid.So we left the place.
Seriously the owner cakap cematu?? WTF man !! That is so kasarr and kurang hajar bebanar.banar tah.inda jua durang rugi kah apa.mun makannanya ku liat langis jua.and yang karitnya inda jua durang menambah lagi.inda murah rajiki tu mun miatu ulah durang.altho wecan is actually one of my fav restaurants.tapinya eh palui banar jua.
Hello Muaz, Selamat Berpuasa!! I suggest you write to BB.. MUST BOYCOTT ni this restaurant!!
The standard of service and civility in our local eateries is generally appalling. There are some exceptions of course but personally I think that by making bad/rude service like this known to the general public is one way of making these eateries accountable. My sympathies to the affected diners.

if that really is that restaurant that people have been saying it is.. well, would really think that a place that uses 'business cards' printed on paper with clip art? and they are even cut out properly!!

this post lama udah panya..last year,2007!i jes read it after more than a year..i wud jes like 2 add,last year,early november 2007,me n my fren lunch sna!well,ok ok plg...b4 order a2,kira2 budget la dlu,siap with calculator lagi,dlm $30+,$33 la catu!cos time a2 budget kami $40 sja...sharing la,kira $20 sorang!time kn byr bil,ke jamban ku dlu,my fren ku suruh membyr..kalinya ada my fren katuk2,gtau duit nda cukup!cos d bil a2 $46 or $48 2..heran la ku.baik pun ku ada spare $10(konon kn bli minyak keta)..udah cek bil,they charge for sumthin yg order a2 nada!n dis 1 item,dorg charge 2x..order utk sorg,charge nya order 2 piring!udah dquery,mcm apa..ukannya kn ngakun salah,mcm2 alasan baginya!nya my fren,biar tia eh,halalkn sja..pajua $10,jdi klai sja krg!nada sja tu...mun sorg buatnya catu,mun smua org dkanakannya catu?tau la org brunei kitani ani,ukannya pndai kn mliat o mencek resit..slalunya yg kna gtau a2,iatah yg dbyr!apa lagi org tua2 kitani..sdg2 eh,cna wecan punya management ani kn?smpai doubting ku plg..mlayu punya ka 2?meragui kehalalannya th u plg!eish eish..
